Joel Berry joins the Charlotte Hornets Summer League Roster

Joel Berry II has joined the Charlotte Hornets NBA Summer League Roster and will be replacing Hornets Guard, Nate Darling. Berry is a familiar face to the Hornets organisation after playing in 34 games for the Greensboro Swarm in the 2019/20 season.

Charlotte Hornets PR announced today that Joel Berry will be joining the NBA Summer League squad as an injury replacement. Berry has played for the Greensboro Swarm during the 2019/2020 season in the NBA G-League and had one game of 44 points and did impress in his one season with the Charlotte Hornets affiliate team before heading overseas.

Joel Berry most recently played for Besiktas in the top-tier of Turkish basketball in his first season overseas and he reached the playoffs.

Besiktas finished the regular season 4th in the league with a 19-11 record. They defeated Tofas SC in the first round of the playoffs before falling short to Shane Larkin’s Anadolu Efes.

Berry had a great season averaging over 9 PPG, including a season-high of 21 points. Berry recently joined the Ceiling is the Roof Podcast and spoke about his season, you can watch it below.

Berry will be joining his former Tar Heel teammate in Kenny Williams, who was recently announced as an addition to the Charlotte Hornets Summer League Roster. Both players will be hoping to impress in Las Vegas at the MGM Summer League, the Hornets schedule looks like this:

  • 8th August vs Trailblazers
  • 9th August vs Kings
  • 12th August vs Spurs
  • 14th August vs Raptors
